To blog or not to blog

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ms. Carlton @ 2:10 pm

Blogging.  What is the big deal?  First of all, it may help to know a little more about what blogging is.  Check out this informational video

Now that you know more about the history of blogging, it is time to peruse (look it up!) through some student examples.  The Edublogs website that is hosting our class blog held several student competitions last year.  Makaya won with this post in the embedded media category.   Totally inspirational!

Daniel, a twelve-year-old gamer, also won an award with his gaming blog.  As you scroll down, note the use of photography and video production.  These guys are your age.  Pretty impressive, huh?

How about some more?  Here is Haley’s blog.  I also enjoyed Nicholas’s post about why blogging makes a difference on his soccer blog.  You can even check out their classmates’ blogs on the right menu bar while you are on their site.

Now that you have been informed, write 2 short paragraphs:  one should contain your initial comments about blogging and what you like about it,  and the other should include any questions or concerns you have about starting your own blog.  Write your original response by Wednesday, August 12, and comment to 2 classmates by Sunday, August 16.

 New blogging rules:

  1.  Use capital letters and punctuation when needed.
  2. Minimum of 3 sentences per paragraph, which should be written like you are in 7th grade advanced Language Arts.
  3. Always be positive and polite in your comments to others.
  4. Avoid cheerleading….  Explain why you like certain points made, or explain how you can connect to a point that was made.
  5. Make sure you address who you are speaking to by writing their name followed by a comma.
  6. Most importantly, be real.  Be yourself.

  1. I think that blog is good. You can sahre your thoughts. And you write stuff that we need to know.

I would like to write my own blog. I can ask other people questions.

      Mandy B. — August 10, 2009 @ 3:37 pm

  2. To me, blogging is an exciting and new way of thinking and discussing. I enjoy sharing my comments on myself and other things, and not only being able to read my own posts, but the posts of those around me. For the time being, I don’t have any questions, but I might later, so I will let you know.

      Haley — August 10, 2009 @ 3:38 pm

  3. I feel that bloging is exciting because you get to speck your own mind.It also is cool because you can conversate with people that you have something
in common with. You can also have fun while you learn.

How do you get all of the stuff on the blog? When will we get our blog? Will we get to blog about wha ever we want to???

      erykah hill — August 10, 2009 @ 3:46 pm

  4. Blogging to me is very fun. I enjoy sharing my ideas with everyone. I never thought blogging would be this great, I thought it would be boring and that I would have a tough time doing it but, after I got started blogging became very easy and what I started writing became to come natural to me.
Really I don’t have any questions or concerns about writing a blog except… when I blog do I talk like I talk to a friend or should I talk like I am talking to a stranger or acquaintances. Other than that I have no questions. Again I really do enjoy blogging.

      Raiven H. — August 10, 2009 @ 4:16 pm

  5. My thoughts about the blog is that it is really cool. This is the first year to blog for schools. I think all schools that can use a computer should use the bloging system.
One of the questions that i would like to know, why do certain teachers have the bloging system for their class, and why do other teachers don’t have it? The next question is how do you get a avatar? The last thing that I want to ask is how can you get a new blog?

  6. Honestly, i love blogging! Sure there’s rules, and no texting language but I always love to share with my class what ever I feel ! i think blogging is about expressing your feelings through out your class and to the teachers to. Its also a great way to find stuff out about your classmates that you didn’t already know before. I love blogging because its fun to comment on other peoples funny, or not so funny blogs. Blogs are a great assignment for class in my opinion.

      Claire Dittman — August 10, 2009 @ 4:43 pm

  7. Oops sorry I forgot the second paragraph :s

    Anyways,

My questions and concerns is that I’m not really interested in starting my own blog. So yes, I love our class blogs but I dont want to start my own.
    Questions:

-Are our blogs going to have to do with the assignment of the week?
-Are we going to have one every week ?
-Are we allowed to use the smiley faces in our blogs ??

      Claire Dittman — August 10, 2009 @ 4:48 pm

  8. I think blogging is very worthwhile. I would love to have my own blog. I think that blogging lets you express your individuality, and lets you connect with people on a higher level and find out things you never knew about the other bloggers. Blogging is very interesting and i think it can sometimes inspire you to do things you might’ve never done.

Ok, here are my questions. 1) What exactly can we put on our blog? 2) Can
we put non-school related questions on here? 3) When can we start our own blog?

      Chiyanne W. — August 10, 2009 @ 6:14 pm

  9. Smiley faces are absolutely legal. :)

      Ms. Carlton — August 10, 2009 @ 7:32 pm

  10. I really love the blog thing myself. You could get some very important facts about people. I would like to comment on how serious, well-written, and humerous some of the comments were in the last blog. I really enjoyed reading and commenting on the comments the other people wrote.
I am so excited about starting my own blog. I can’t wait. I really am concerned about one particular thing. I’m concerned about people being mean on the blogs. I really hate it when people will say mean stuff virtually, but then when the victim calls the suspect up, the suspect is speechless. It is pretty funny if you ask me, but it is also really bad. Okay, well I got to get off the internet for now, but I will be on later!!!
    BYE!!!

  11. I really can’t wait to start my blog!! I think it would really fun. But is it to put stuff not to pertaining to school on there?

      Chiyanne W. — August 10, 2009 @ 7:41 pm

  12. Claire Dittman, I agree with you about blogging being a great class assignment. I enjoy doing this more than I do written work.

      Raiven H. — August 10, 2009 @ 7:49 pm

  13. Raiven H, I agree with you, I enjoy blogging also. It is very fun.

      Chiyanne W. — August 10, 2009 @ 8:26 pm

  14. I completley think blogging is amazing! It is fantastic! I enjoy talking to my friends and meeting new people in our pod. I also like learning new things I didn’t know about some of my best friends. Alot of comments and the ten random things suprised me. I never knew some of the stuff people added. I think this was a great idea and we should continue with the blogging fun.
I don’t really have any concerns except that I am kinda confused on how to put the smiley faces on the blog. Can anyone tell me how? Haha! I also wondered once you have your blog set up can you add your videos and pictures? Thank you Mrs. Carlton this blog is great!:)
    Gabbey<3

      gabbeystephens — August 10, 2009 @ 9:31 pm

  15. Never fear, Tiffany. Ms. C is patrolling this blogospere for mean people. Their comments will not be posted because they will have to go through me first, even on your blog. So get used to rainbows, butterflies, and a few unicorns.

      Ms. Carlton — August 10, 2009 @ 10:03 pm

  16. Blogging is an exellent way to express your feelings about a certain issue. You don’t always have to agree with other people’s ideas, and if that’s the case, you can begin your own blogging website. You can speak what you believe and get feedback from an audience, which sounds kind of fun.
I would like to begin my own blog and get responses from my friends and classmates. I want to know how to do that. Will I be able to customize my background? I have no concerns, and hope this will be a great activity!

      N'Dyah M. — August 10, 2009 @ 11:12 pm

  17. Raiven H, I agree with you, blogging is way better than written work. My hands don’t get tired as quickly!

      N'Dyah M. — August 10, 2009 @ 11:13 pm

  18. Erykah H, I agree with you about speaking your mind, and conversing with others. Communication is key!!! :)

      N'Dyah M. — August 10, 2009 @ 11:16 pm

  19. I think blogging is beyond awesome! It gives you a chance to get to know people and to get to know their views on certain subjects. It only takes a few minutes, but I think it’s probably one of the most beneficial ways of giving homework, because it’s actually fun and people enjoy doing it. I love getting on and reading what other people have written and the comments that they’ve made about other responses.
I really only have a couple of questions about blogging. First of all, how often are we going to have blogs and will we ever have more than one per week? Secondly, will the blog always be totally random or will it be relevant to what we’re studying in class? I personally like it being totally random, because there’s not that many times in school where you get to say whatever you want and just be you!

      Madison D. — August 11, 2009 @ 1:52 pm

  20. I forgot to do a second paragraph the first time, so here is my first paragraph with my second one added on.
To me, blogging is an exciting and new way of thinking and discussing. I enjoy sharing my comments on myself and other things. I also like being able to read my own posts and the posts of those around me. By reading the posts of others, I get an idea of how those people think, and it opens my eyes to a new view on things.
I don’t have that many questions or concerns, but there are a couple I would like to know the answer to. When commenting on the blog, are we acting like we are talking to our friends, or should we act more like we are talking to an adult, such as our parents. Also, I would like to know if there is a limit on how many times we are allowed to comment? I have no other questions that I can think of, but if I think of them later, I will let you know.

      Haley B. — August 11, 2009 @ 2:35 pm

  21. Chi, I can’t wait to start my blog either. The one obstacle I keep hitting is the one where I can’t figure out what I’m going to blog about when the time comes. I am unfortunately having Blogging Block. :)

      Haley B. — August 11, 2009 @ 2:39 pm

  22. I think the blog is really cool : ) One of my favorite things is getting to know things about people that might or might not be very close to me that I didn’t know before ! I also like to be able to talk to everybody .

I don’t really have any concerns but here are my questions :
    1) Will we have a blog EVERY week ?
and 2) Can we do a blog that is based around our literature circles book when we have one ?

    : ) Thanks .

      Jessica Wilson — August 11, 2009 @ 2:42 pm

  23. I think blogging is really great! It is a great way to express your ideas and other thoughts on different opinions. (: It is also a different and fun way of homework. Ha i found out some very interesting stuff about people that i had no idea about (:

One question i have is how do you get pictures on you icon thing? Ha and like Gabbey said , i dont know how to do the smiley faces (:

      Victoria Simon — August 11, 2009 @ 3:34 pm

  24. Blogging seems pretty fun since I rarely get on the computer for communcation purposes. So i would have yo say this is bassicaly my first time. Other from that, blogging is a stumpendous class assignment and it’s … well easy for that matter. Hopefully i’ll keep up with all of the blogs.

      Cody Y — August 11, 2009 @ 4:00 pm

  25. Sorry Mrs. Carlton, I on acident pressed enter while thinking about the second paragraph.

Bassically asking, what everybody is, how do you put up your avatar. Reason I’m asking is that, one it would be nifty and two it shows more of the person. I hope that blogging is as fun as it is now to till the end of the year. But i won’t now till then. I wonder how much bloggging can be related to texting?

      Cody Y — August 11, 2009 @ 4:07 pm

  26. I think blogging is a good way to express your feelings and get responses from other people. I also think that it is good for school because it gives ideas and other cool things. Also when people blog I learn new things about them that I never knew before.
Blogging is also very useful for big families so you can keep up with each other. I hope we get to blog more this year because it is WAY better than written homework. Hopefully we get to do even better topics this year in English and get even more comments.

      Blake Wise — August 11, 2009 @ 4:18 pm

  27. I like blogging because it is a good way to express you feelings in what you do and what love. It is also a good way to keep you friends in the know with what is going on in your life. It can also be alot of fun to see the comments that are made by your readers, friends and family.
I honestly don’t know hoe to write a blogand I may need help figuring it out. You can tell that I am not in the know on how to do thing on the computers but, I get by. I how one mor question regarding starting my own blog, who would be able to see it? Thank you for reading my questions and comments.

      Sara Brockmann — August 11, 2009 @ 4:48 pm

  28. I like us blogging. It is a way to share, but not as intimidating a writing something. It is more natural for me to be typing that writing. Now you won’t be the only one to read our ideas, everyone can share and find out new stuff about one another. I figured out, threw the 10 random things about me post, that I have a lot of things in common with people.

I only have a few questions-
    1) Will we have any non-school related assignments for blogging?
    2) Will we start our own blog, or just post to yours?
    3) If/when we get our own blog, can we comment and suggest each others blogs on ours?

(Sorry, that last one is confusing :) )

      Blake Terrell — August 11, 2009 @ 4:53 pm

  29. Mandy,
I totally agree, I like asking people questions about their blogs, posts, and what-nots too! :)

      Blake Terrell — August 11, 2009 @ 4:57 pm

  30. I think that blogging is awesome! You can put what you think and let other people see so they can
comment. It is also kind of interesting to see what other people get to say. One bad thing though is that people can say what ever they want and comment on what ever they want.

The blog makes a good class assignment. It is actually some fun homework. And it seems weird that you dont know some things about your friends but until you read what they put you know a lot more about them. Its really fun to speak your own mind.
By the way how do you do the smiley face thing? I cant figure it out.

      Sara Schwartz — August 11, 2009 @ 4:58 pm

  31. Ms. Carlton,
Yay! I’m glad that smiley faces are legal! 8)

      Blake Terrell — August 11, 2009 @ 4:59 pm

  32. I absolutely adore blogging! It’s a great way to share your thoughts and ideas while still being on the internet! It is sooo much better than doing written homework. I didn’t really even know what blogging was until recently and this has been really helpful to me. =)

I agree with Claire though. I really do like this whole class blog thing but I’m not liking the idea of starting my own blog. I just don’t think I’ll enjoy it that much. But I’m sure it will still be great with all of the rainbows, butterflies, and unicorns! :)

      Casey Grubbs!!!! :P — August 11, 2009 @ 5:13 pm

  33. OOOPS! I forgot my questions! Ok!

-Can we have stuff that isn’t about school on out blog???
-Are we going to get the little icons to put next to our names?
-When do we start our own blog?????

      Casey Grubbs!!!! :P — August 11, 2009 @ 5:15 pm

  34. I like to blog because it really shows you more of peoples personalities. You can hear all of the thoughts of friends instead of the ones just in your class period. Also, writing can sometimes be easier than making sentences verbally.
Although blogging can be fun, I’d rather email people or chat with them on facebook while on the internet. It’s not the funnest thing to me. I’ll blog if I am forced to, but I really would rather do other things on the internet.

      Melissa Truman — August 11, 2009 @ 5:19 pm

  35. I think bloging is an enjoyable way to talk to your friends when you are out of school. One of the best parts about bloging is that nobody is allowed to say anything mean about you. (Thank you Ms.Carlton)I like to chat with my friend, so this is a magnificent way for me to do that. This is also an interesting way to learn new things about people that you though that you knew everthing about but it turns out you didn’t.
When do we get our own blog? What all are we allowed to put on our blogs when we get one (like pictures and stuff like that)? How do you work a blog? How do we got a picture to post when I add a comment?

      Katelyn L — August 11, 2009 @ 5:51 pm

  36. I think blogging is really cool, it’s kind of like e-mail, or instant messaging, but also not.(that sounds weird) It’s totally cool to have it as an assignment, also. I didn’t do anything like this last year, and definitely not in elementary school.

I don’t currently have any questions, but I’ll keep you posted.

      Alyssa Wright — August 11, 2009 @ 6:29 pm

  37. I think blogging is a really cool and fun way to interact with students and teachers. It is easier than talking face to face. I like the fact that we have to do one every week because it is a fun way to learn about my classmates and teachers. I love how fast and easy it is to blog.

One of the things that I would like to find out is when we will start our own blog page. Also, when starting a blog page, is it hard to set up? Who can read our blogs, the whole world, or just our pod? I really can’t wait to start my own blog.

      dakota m — August 11, 2009 @ 7:03 pm

  38. Blogging is the best thing that I have ever done! I totally agree with Raiven, this is so much more fun than written work. I wish that last year we would of done blogging like this. On blogging, you get to read other classmates blog and see what they like. It can be funny or sad or whatever, but it is always going to be fun!
I’m excited about doing my own blog, but at the same time scared. It is going through my mind on how to do a blog? That is probaly the only question that I have. I’m so excited about this!

    Tori A.

      Tori A. — August 11, 2009 @ 7:24 pm

  39. I think blogging can be a good thing but at the same time can be a bad thing. I say that blogging is a good thing for obvious reasons such as meeting people who you can relate to better, and people who “get” you. Blogging can be a bad thing because of numerous reasons such as there are people out there who would harm people if you give out personal information.

I have alot of questions about blogging and creating a blog website. I want to know if you can create a blog for free or does it cost money. I also want to know if you can delete a blog if you want to. If i was able to create my own website for free i would name it the “Great Outdoors”. To be honest with you Mrs.Carlton I thought blogging was going to be alot of work and not enjoyable. Turns out that blogging is alot of fun! :)

      Mason Y — August 11, 2009 @ 7:53 pm

  40. I think that the blog is great! I love it. It can teach us a lot of things about diffrent people. Theirs already a lot of stuff about people that I have learned from reading the blog. I think that blogging is great Mrs. Carlton.
I would say that starting my own blog would be some thing I would be able to do but i do have a question about it. If we would want to make our own blogs what is a site that we could make it on? I would like to know so that I could start my own and experiance the fun of creating my own blog!

      Jacob McDowell — August 11, 2009 @ 8:18 pm

  41. I love blogging! It is a great way to share your ideas on things. You can also see what other people think about on certain things. Plus you can communicate with people by commenting them on their blogs. Also you can learn a lot about people by what they wrote on their blogs, like the 10 things about me.
My questions are, will we be required to do a blog every week? Also, will all of our blogs be due on Wednesdays? Thats all for now!

      Anna Leigh Pitzer — August 11, 2009 @ 8:27 pm

  42. Blogging is kind of cool but there is something that could go wrong. One thing that I don’t like about it is that if you can’t get to a computer then you can’t responed to it. Other than that I think it is pretty cool.
I have questions about starting my own blog. For one how do I actually START it? And also how would I maintain my own blog? Those are my only questions on blogging.

      Nick W. — August 11, 2009 @ 8:28 pm

  43. I think blogging is a great way to get to know our classmates.Even with my friends there are some stuff I didn’t know.I think blogging is fun and I cant wait to start my own.

I don’t have any concerns except for how you put the smiles except for :) . I think that all teachers should do a blog.I think we will have a lot of fun with the blog. Also once we get our own blog, will we get to choose our picture for when we post on your blog?????

      austin swinks — August 11, 2009 @ 8:40 pm

  44. I’m wondering, when do we get our own blog???????

      austin swinks — August 11, 2009 @ 8:42 pm

  45. You are welcome, Katelyn. I am so here for you.

      Ms. Carlton — August 11, 2009 @ 8:47 pm

  46. I think blogging is a great way to express yourself and learn about others. I think it was a great idea for teachers to have blogs. It is also a great way to spend free time.

      Abbey U — August 11, 2009 @ 10:29 pm

  47. I was woundering can my blog cover more than one subject? When do we have to update them? Do they have due dates?

      Abbey U — August 11, 2009 @ 10:33 pm

  48. I think blobbing is ok I didnt even know what it was until a few days ago.So far its cool because its alot easier than writing a letter than sending it to you.So thanks Mrs. Carlton for introducing me to blogging.

      caleb hankinson — August 12, 2009 @ 7:16 am

  49. I agree with dakopta m. when he said its a great way to interact with teachers and students.

      caleb hankinson — August 12, 2009 @ 7:18 am

  50. Blogging, in my opinion, is a great way to learn about the people in the blog
(which in this blog it is basically only classmates and Ms. Carlton). But it is also a good way to check and see if you have homework. All that you would have to do is ask someone that you trust. Just say, “Hey do you know the homework assignment for tonight?” and hope that you get an answer.

      Aaron Newton — August 12, 2009 @ 7:40 am

  51. I love the blog. I thinks it is really nice to be able to find out things about people and to tell others what I think about things. I like being able to express my views and seeing what others think about things.

I wouldn’t have any problems making and managing a blog. If you know me you are aware that am a computer person. My one concern would be making sure only certain people can come on there.

      Morgan Sasser — August 12, 2009 @ 3:56 pm

  52. I agree with you Raiven i think blogging is kinda fun too.

      Sara Schwartz — August 12, 2009 @ 4:01 pm

  53. I think that blogging is a great after school assignment. Sure there may be no shortcuts in it like text talk but there is still much fun to have here. You can have fun just chatting with friends and learning new things about each other.

Blogging to me is almost like that new website everyone uses. I really enjoy it because it gives me something to do after school when i do get bored. So when the scenario is bordem it equals blog time.

      Chandler Kammerer — August 12, 2009 @ 4:05 pm

  54. I think blogging is fun and I enjoy it! It’s fun to read everyone’s coments and post. Also, it is fun to comment on other peoples’. [:
Blogging also helps me on my typing skills. It gets me out of the habit of “I.M.” typing, and texting. It will help me when I have to type essays. Thank you for this great experiance! :)

  55. I love to blog to see what other people have to say.. I also spend alot of time on the computer so its just somthiing else to do. Blogging is like a hobbie and can help you too. In the future you might have to do alot of typing so blogging is making me a faster typer and making me learn my home keys and stuff. i like to get invloved in other conversations too. i guess you could say its fin to be nosey somtimes.

  58. I agree with Anna Lee I think its a great way to share your opinion with the class too ! (:

  59. I totally agree with Raiven and Tori to I love this way more than written work (:!!

      Claire Dittman — August 12, 2009 @ 4:40 pm

  60. I like the blogs kind of, but I don’t absolutely love them. I like text way better. That is probably because I don’t have to worry about making everything grammatically correct. ALso, you don’t read my texts, so I talk more on text. It’s kind of weird when you know your teach is going to see everything you post. It is way better than other assignments you could be giving us, though.
The only question I really have is will you give us a topic every time or can we talk about what we want to sometimes? I also have a comment to Mrs. Carlton. What’s up with teh rainbows and butterflies and unicorns thing? It’s like really freaking me out.
    ps-Are hearts allowed too? ♥ ♥ ♥

      brooklyn a — August 12, 2009 @ 4:51 pm

  61. Hii :]
I absolutely love blogging! I think its a way to get out your feelings on a certain topic. You can learn things about other class mates and what they feel. But, I hope i can get used to spelling and not using text talk on here. I may have to download spell check because i always double some of the letters on words.Blogging is right up there on the list of things i love to do.

Blogging can also help you make new friends! For example, Windy like Apples, Lucy likes apples, Bam, best friends! xD But really, I think that everyone will make new friends by blogging on here. Hopefully, you can find different interests with other people on here and become friends. Happy blogging!

  62. To me blogging is fun! Sure you can’t use texting words but it is fun to talk to classmates on a topic. It is fun to get into a conversation with your friends and its a way to express your feelings. I am looking forward to blogging alot this year cuz it is so fun. The topics you make will alays start a interesting conversation between people

My only questions are, will we have blogs every week for the year?

      Taylor Cowan — August 12, 2009 @ 5:11 pm

  63. I think bloging is cool because i get to talk to some of my friends through my blog. Its also pretty cool when i can learn stuff about my friends that i never knew.I dont like how i can never actually find out how to log on, it takes me twenty minuts. But another upside is that i dont have to right it.

I only have a few questions about bloging. For one is it always free or do you have to pay for it eventualy. I am not sure how you name one, could you tell me? My last and final question is that do i have to get my own website?

      graysonrams — August 12, 2009 @ 5:19 pm

  66. Anna Leigh, I agree with you blogging is a very good way to learn more about our classmates and teachers!

      Raiven H. — August 12, 2009 @ 5:44 pm

  67. I do not like bloging. The only thing I like is that I get to see what other people posted. I wish you would stop making us post blogs.

I only have two questions. One is are we going to make our own blog? Also if we have to make a blog how do we.

      Adam Wissing — August 12, 2009 @ 5:58 pm

  68. I Do not like bloging. The only thing i like about it is that i see other peoples blog. I wish you woyld stop making us blog.

I only have two concerns. One is are we going to make our own blog. Two is how do you make your own blog.

      Adam Wissing — August 12, 2009 @ 6:07 pm

  69. To me blogging is such a great way to get to know not just classmates but other people. We can get to know strangers. It is such a great thing. I love it.

I also have some problems. I don’t know if I should write in text or if I should write regular. Apparently I have to write in proper grammar. I also need to know if I need to talk like I’m shy or talk like I’m loud and obnoxoius. I don’t know.

      Bryce Shupe — August 12, 2009 @ 6:57 pm

  70. In my opinion, i think the blog is alright. Its cool because you can see what you didnt already know from your buddies and learn new stuff. I definately agree this is better than written work (personaly, I think anythings better than written work). So far I think this create your own blog thing seems pretty cool.

I dont really have any questions except for how is everyone doing this smiley face thing? Im not the best at computers so I have no idea. Thanks.

      Jordan L — August 12, 2009 @ 7:02 pm

  71. Blogging is alot of fun. It helps get to know everybody better. I really like doing the blogs for your class, and I can’t wait to see what the next blog is. Blogging is a really easy and fast thing to do. I think it is a good idea to do this as a grade, even if it’s only a little grade, it can actually help you bring your grade up. :)

      Kelsey Cyrus — August 12, 2009 @ 7:14 pm

  72. The only question that I have is how to start it. But, I think it would be alot of fun to make my own blog. My only concern would be what I would put for my first blog, but other than that I’m so excited about getting to do my own one. :D

      Kelsey Cyrus — August 12, 2009 @ 7:18 pm

  73. Blogging is a fun and exciting way to tell your friends something thats going on in your life or just update them on a random event. I know that blogging will be fun this year, it has been so far at least.

      Evan O. — August 12, 2009 @ 7:26 pm

  74. I totally agree with you Raiven. I thought doing a blog wass going to be a PLETHORA of work, but it turns out that it is really fun! :) I am so glad we started this blog thing. :)

      Tiffany H!!!!!! — August 12, 2009 @ 7:35 pm

  75. I totally agree with you Tori A. I am scared about starting my own blog because I don’t know how to. At the same time though, I am extremely excited about it. It is so confusing! :D

      Tiffany H!!!!!! — August 12, 2009 @ 7:54 pm

  76. I like blogging because we can communicate with our classmates and share ideas. It’s also a more enjoyable assignment than doing a worksheet or something. I also really like the fact that it’s all positive. There’s very few places where that happens. It kind of annoys me to not be able to use text talk because I keep having to go back and fix things because I’m so used to texting and stuff, but it also makes since considering it’s a language arts class.
One question I have is that if we go on a break from school, will we still do a blog that week? Also, how do you put the pictures on? Other than that I think I’m all good with blogging for now. :)

      alyssa a — August 12, 2009 @ 8:52 pm

  77. I agree with Blake W. and Sara B. that blogging is a great way to express your feelings. I’m typically a very shy person, so being able to say what I think on a blog is much easier than being face to face for me.

      Madison D. — August 12, 2009 @ 8:56 pm

  78. Brooklyn, go hearts!

      Ms. Carlton — August 12, 2009 @ 8:57 pm

  79. Aaron, actually your responses and comments are limited to the post topic. If you ever need homework information, please use the homework page on my website.

      Ms. Carlton — August 12, 2009 @ 9:03 pm

  80. I agree Tori A.

Im a little bit afraid to start my own blog, but, i think i will get over it. :]]

      Erica Perez — August 12, 2009 @ 9:30 pm

  81. Alyssa A.,
I completley agree with you about the blog being positive. I enjoy that!

  84. I think blogging is a great way to express yourself . It’s a good way to get to know our classmates , and it’s alot more fun than written work (: The only bad thing I can think of is that some peoples computers may not work , and they can’t get this website up . But anyway , blogging’s still really fun ! (:

      Michaela Winters — August 12, 2009 @ 10:26 pm

  85. Yeah , I have the same question as Taylor Cowen . Will we have a blog to do every week for the whole entire year ?

      Michaela Winters — August 12, 2009 @ 10:27 pm

      Melissa Truman — August 13, 2009 @ 3:41 pm

  88. Brooklyn, I completely agree with you about the butterflies and unicorns thing! It’s just a little weird. I still think you’re an awesome teacher though, Ms. Carlton!

      Melissa Truman — August 13, 2009 @ 3:47 pm

  89. I think blogging is a cool way of sharing your thoughts.I had heard about it, but before your class , I never had written a blog. I definetly like how you can respond to what other people have to say.
Like I said, none of my teachers in any other grade has done a blog. When did you start to have a class blog? I think every teacher should have one.

      Colby Hall — August 13, 2009 @ 4:01 pm

  90. I had the same question as Mason, is it free all the time or will you have to pay on some?

    Colby

      Colby H. — August 13, 2009 @ 4:06 pm

  91. I also think blogs could help you learn new words from students and teachers.

      Colby H. — August 13, 2009 @ 4:11 pm

  92. Taylor C, I am wondering the same thing as you as far as having blogs every week is concerned. I guess right now, I will enjoy doing blogging instead of nothing but written work, but I wonder if sometimes I could get bored with blogging. At the moment, I can’t see myself getting bored with blogging, but then again, I’m the person who changes my favorite candy every week, or in other words, I change my mind a lot.

      Haley B. — August 13, 2009 @ 7:07 pm

  93. I totally agree with Jordan L. that anything is better than written homework. That’s why this whole blogging thing is awesome to me. Written stuff totally bores me to death, and this is actually kind of fun!

      Madison D. — August 14, 2009 @ 4:40 pm

  94. A blogging of your own Mason, that’s pretty cool i think.

      Cody Y — August 14, 2009 @ 4:57 pm

      Cody Y — August 14, 2009 @ 4:59 pm

  96. I’m kind of with Adam Wissing,
Sometimes blogging is hard to do with other homework to finish.

      Nick W — August 14, 2009 @ 5:38 pm

  97. Just like Max M said,
How do we get an avatar for our blog comments?

      Nick W — August 14, 2009 @ 5:49 pm

  98. Tiffany, there isn’t any way I am going to start my own blog. It’s way too confusing!

      levi allen — August 17, 2009 @ 7:10 am

  128. I think that we should not blog. It is really hard to get on and blog every week. I think that it is way to much stress for us every week along with all of our other homework. It is even harder when some of us dont have internet at home.

Blogging is really hard and make me get sressed out because my bus gets here at 7:10 and then i go eat breakfast. I cant stat after school much because I babysit my little brothers and sister. This is just to much for me to do every week with all other homework that we get.
